Scholars connects skilled professionals ("Scholars") with opportunities to participate in research, evaluation, annotation, and other specialized tasks.
By creating an account or participating in work opportunities through Scholars, you agree to these Terms.
2. Platform Purpose
Scholars is a platform designed to:
• identify and onboard skilled professionals
• administer assessments and qualification programs
• connect Scholars with project opportunities
• manage work coordination and quality evaluation
• facilitate payments through third-party providers
Scholars does not guarantee work opportunities or minimum earnings.
Project participation is optional and depends on project availability and performance.
3. Independent Contractor Status
Scholars users perform work as independent contractors.
Nothing in these Terms creates:
• an employment relationship
• a partnership
• or an agency relationship
between you and iMerit or its clients.
You are responsible for:
• your taxes
• your social security contributions
• compliance with local regulations.
4. Eligibility
To participate in Scholars you must:
• be at least 18 years old
• have the legal ability to enter contracts
• have the legal right to perform independent contractor work in your country
• provide accurate information during registration
Providing false information may result in account suspension.
5. Identity Verification and Compliance
To maintain platform integrity and comply with regulatory requirements, Scholars may require:
• identity verification
• background checks
• tax documentation
• payment onboarding
These processes may be conducted through third-party providers.
Failure to complete required verification steps may limit or suspend platform access.
6. Work Opportunities
From time to time Scholars may present you with:
• assessments

• annotation or evaluation work

Each opportunity may have its own:
• compensation structure
• performance expectations
• confidentiality requirements.
Participation is voluntary.
You are free to accept or decline opportunities.
7. Performance and Quality

Failure to meet quality standards may limit access to future opportunities.
8. Payments
Payments for work performed through Scholars are processed through third-party payment providers.

Payment timing may vary depending on the payment provider and banking systems.
Scholars does not hold funds or operate as a financial institution.
9. Acceptable Use

• interfere with system security.
Violation of these rules may result in suspension or termination.
10. Confidentiality
Many projects on Scholars involve confidential or proprietary information.

11. Intellectual Property
All platform software, interfaces, and documentation are the property of iMerit or its licensors.
Work created within projects may be subject to separate intellectual property assignments.
12. Platform Availability
We aim to maintain reliable platform access but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
Platform services may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time.
13. Suspension or Termination
Scholars may suspend or terminate your account if:

Users may close their accounts at any time.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, iMerit is not liable for:
• indirect damages
• lost income
• loss of opportunity
• platform interruptions.
